Same vac, half the price at the Eureka PetLover model!, September 27, 2011 By Amazon Verified Purchase This review is from: Eureka Boss SMART VAC Upright Vacuum, Reconditioned, R4870P (Kitchen) Over the years, I have bought 2 (now 3) of Eureka's 4800 series bagged uprights, both the Boss Pet series model (the purple one with the Paw attachement). This vacuum is from the same series, and indeed, is identical in size, shape and manufacture as the Pet model that goes for $149. The only major differences I see when they're side by side is this model has fewer attachments, and has a different paint job. Seriously! Oh, and maybe that the few attachments it does come with stores in the back of the machine better than the pet model.
When I first got the box from Amazon, it was literally a UPS label slapped onto the vacuum's box. But it arrived in okay condition, so I went to work putting it together (all of three screws to put the handle assembly on). It had a bag already installed, and was all ready to go. DYSON hold on to your hats! This vaccum may not be bagless may not be full of fancy designs but, it packs a PUNCH! Dyson doesn't compare to this vaccum, been there done that regret I ever spent money on one. BUT THIS is like a vaccum should be. RELIABLE, EASY AND CLEANS!!! I use th lined bags since I have a house full of people with allergies. Cleans my hardwood and carpets with a flip of the switch (NOT for those of you with back problems)
its a little heavy, you have to bend over to switch for hardwood and carpet
BUT it cleans!!! I spilt flour on my kitchen floors and if there ever was a test on cleaning and suction this was IT
PASSED!!

Broken out of box, January 16, 2012 Amazon Verified Purchase This review is from: Eureka Boss SMART VAC Upright Vacuum, Reconditioned, R4870P (Kitchen) If you manage to get one with everything in working order out of the box, you'll be extremely happy with it. Unfortunately the foot pedal was broken off on the one we purchased... I tried my best to get it to stay on but it kept popping off when we'd try and tilt the stand back up. I called Eureka who were easy to work with and gave us the option of returning it to Amazon or taking it to a local repair center. I opted for the second option (God knows why..) but the proprietor of the local warranty center was rude and refused to work on it since it was reconditioned and had no warranty... The vacuum does have a 1 year warranty but I didn't want to go back and forth between this crotchety old buzzard and Eureka so we returned it to Amazon which was much simpler than I had thought. If they weren't out of stock I would have tried my luck with another one because it really did work great.
