The instructions leave a bit to the imagination as they are somewhat brief and a bit difficult to follow for the neophyte installer. Though I was able to figure it out additional photo illustrations would have been helpful. My vacuum is up and running like a new one!

Out of the box it looked fine, and installation was easy and fit like the factory motor. Then I noticed the new motor does not have the little washer at the end of the belt spindle. The photo shows the washer on one of the spindles. The washer, I assume, is an extra prevention from the belt skipping off the spindle. Since I don't know if this washer adds 1% protection or 50% protection, I returned the motor. I ordered another motor from a website Totalvac.com. Same washer-less motor, even though totalvac shows side by side photo of washer-less (generic) and washer (oreck original) motors. Local oreck store sells motor, but it is about $40 more. The 5 star reviews here may be encouraging, although nobody mentions if their motor had the washer or not.

When I took my Oreck vaccum in for a cleaning and tune up they told me the motor was going bad I did not want to pay what they wanted to replace the motor I continued to use the vacuum for over a year and when the motor finally went bad turned to amazon to find a replacement affordible, yes easy to repace the motor, yes the instructions were easy to follow and had it done in about 20 minutes a great way to keep an expensive vacuum running for an affordible price
