Good vacuum, January 8, 2012 By AM "Andy" (San Jose, CA) - See all my reviews This review is from: Hoover Windtunnel Self Propelled Bagged Upright- U6485300B (Kitchen) Hoover has been making this style of machine for quite a while, which itself says that it works well. I have one that is about 13 years old. I was very hard on that one, using it to clean up remodeling debris as well as general use, and it still works well (but looks like hell). I saw this version, "remanufactured" at Frys for $69, and thought I would take the risk. The "remanufactured" one looks absolutely brand new with no signs of being used, and it works great - just like my old one. This style of vacuum has a GREAT suction and some very nice features, but you should be aware that it is very heavy due to being self-propelled. Self-propelled makes it absolutely effortless to use on carpet. But if you have to lug your vacuum up stairs, this one is very heavy. Get a lighter model.
All modern vacuums from the major manufacturers are primarily plastic, including Dyson. This has more of a retro look than one of the new space age looking models, but it has great... Read more

I researched and checked local stores and this was the best buy and close to what I wanted. The only thing missing that I would have liked was a retractable power cord. This vacuum actually has a light that tells you when the carpet is dirty (red) or clean (green)!! The self propel feature makes it effortless to move the cleaner around. The UPS driver left it in my front screened entry and I was concerned as the outside packaging was damaged very badly - in fact, if I had been home, I would have refused the package. Fortunately, it was heavily packaged inside in a Hoover box and when put together (only had to attach the handle), it ran beautifully. We have two homes and I intend to purchase another one.

Delivery - ordered on a Thursday - received on a Friday! Well packaged - assembly was a matter of placing top handle into position and installing two screws. Off you go!
Vacuum has lots of suction power. Self propel feature was a must as we have a lot of carpet. It works very well. Attachments are well placed and work as designed. We ordered the extra length hose as we have carpeted steps. Would recommend this to others. The power brush attachment was a surprise as it really does rotate fast and with power. Great on the steps. Thought this may be a gimmick and not work as well as it does. The dirt pick up indicator works as designed. It does indeed change from green to red when picking up material. We just had new carpet laid and it constantly changed colors when removing excess fiber. The roller brush works well and does stop rotating when handle is in upright position... nice feature.
